The Gottfried Silbermann Organ Competition takes place in honour of the great Saxon organ builder. Its aim is to foster young organists who are engaged in the interpretation of organ music on historical organs.

Date: 05.09. - 20.09.2009 (Preparation on 02.09.2009)

The competition takes place in Nikolai-church Langhennersdorf (at the Hildebrandt Organ, 1722), and Petri Church Freiberg (Silbermann Organ, 1735) and Cathedral (Silbermann Organ, 1714 and 1719).

The competition is open to solo performers born after December 31,1977, irrespective of nationality.
Announcement / Conditions of the competition are available from September 2008 onwards at the office.

The following prizes have been assigned:

1^st prize: 5.000 EUR
2^nd prize: 3.500 EUR
3^rd prize: 2.500 EUR
